Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
