No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
