Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
