Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest players around the world. While participating in net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
